How it works
- Copy the YouTube link. Open the Short in the YouTube app or your browser, then tap Share and Copy link, or copy the address from the browser bar.
- Paste the link into YTDownload. Paste the link into the field at the top of this page and press Download.
- Choose a format. Pick the MP4 video or an audio download from the preview card and save it.
Why use it for Shorts
- Made for vertical clips. The preview shows a Short in its own portrait frame and labels it as a Short.
- Video or sound. Save the MP4, or an audio-only file as M4A or MP3 at 192 kbps.
- A hint if the link is not a Short. Paste a regular video here and you get a note, but you can still continue.
- No watermark. The file is delivered as YouTube publishes it, with no logo or intro added.
Shorts links look like youtube.com/shorts/<id>. You can also paste a youtu.be short link or a normal watch link.
Limits
- MP4: H.264 video up to 1080p, with AAC sound.
- MP3: 192 kbps, converted and streamed while it downloads.
- Long videos: videos longer than 60 minutes offer audio only, and media longer than 3 hours is rejected.
- File size: up to 500 MiB per file.
- Not supported: private, members-only, age-restricted, and live videos, and playlists.
YouTube Shorts downloader FAQ
How do I download a YouTube Short?
Open the Short, tap Share and then Copy link, and paste it into the field above. Shorts links look like youtube.com/shorts/ followed by an 11-character ID.
Can I save only the sound of a Short?
Yes. Every Short with a soundtrack offers an audio download as M4A or as an MP3 at 192 kbps, next to the MP4 video.
Why does the page say my link is a regular video?
This page is tuned for Shorts. If you paste a normal video link, you see a hint that it is not a Short, and you can still continue and download it.
Why is a Short's quality limited?
Some Shorts are published in fewer sizes than regular videos. YTDownload lists the H.264 MP4 sizes YouTube offers, up to 1080p, and greys out anything it cannot serve, with the reason.
Am I allowed to download any Short?
Not necessarily. Download Shorts you made, have permission to save, or that are licensed for reuse. YouTube's Terms of Service restrict downloading, and the creator's rights still apply after you save a copy.
Does the file carry a watermark?
No. YTDownload adds no watermark, logo, or intro to the file it delivers.
